Shipping in action
How to create a shipment without an order
Create and book a shipment directly from the Shipments section without first creating an order.
This option is useful when you need to send a parcel directly and do not need an order record before booking the shipment.
Step 1: create the shipment
- Go to Shipments in the left navigation menu.
- Click the green Create shipment button to open the shipment creation screen.
Step 2: add your parcel details
- Package type: Select one of your saved predefined packages or choose to enter custom dimensions.
- Dimensions and weight: If you are using custom dimensions, enter the parcel length, width and height in centimetres, as well as the actual weight in kilograms.
- Category: Select the category that best describes the items being shipped, for example Clothing / Textiles / Footwear.
- Multiple parcels: Select + Add another parcel if the shipment contains more than one parcel.
Make sure your parcel details are accurate
Enter the parcel dimensions and weight as accurately as possible, as these details are used when generating courier rates.
Step 3: add optional shipment details
You can add additional information to the shipment where needed:
- Custom tracking reference or reference number
- Declared value for insurance purposes
- Shipment tags to help organise or identify shipments
- Additional shipping label recipients who should receive the waybill by email
- Your preferred Requested collection date
Step 4: add the collection and delivery addresses
Check both the collection and delivery details before getting rates.
- Send from: Confirm that the collection address and contact details are correct. Your default collection address will populate automatically.
- Send to: Click + Add contact details and address and enter the recipient's delivery information.
Step 5: get rates and book a courier
- Review the shipment details and make sure everything is correct.
- Click Get rates.
- Review the available courier options based on rate and service.
- Select your preferred courier option and confirm the booking.
Step 6: print your waybill
Once the courier has been booked successfully, Bob Go will generate a waybill for the shipment.
Print the waybill and attach it to the parcel before collection. Depending on your setup, this can be a standard PDF waybill, a PDF sticker or a Zebra sticker waybill.
Review your parcel, address and contact details carefully before booking to help avoid rate differences or delivery issues.
