Using Bob Go to deliver to Takealot

Using Bob Go to deliver to Takealot

As more and more of our merchants become Takealot sellers, we want to ensure that the correct processes are followed when using Bob Go to deliver to the Takealot warehouse. Only The Courier Guy, SkyNet, Ram and Internet Express can be used for delivery to Takealot through Bob Go.
Notes
This guide outlines the correct process for delivering to Takealot using Bob Go, including booking requirements, courier recommendations, handling rejections, and resolving rejected POs.

Step-by-Step: Booking a Takealot Shipment

1. Receive & Allocate Your PO

  • Once a sale is made, Takealot issues a Purchase Order (PO) with a due date

  • Log in to the Takealot Seller Portal

  • Allocate the PO to your selected courier

2. Create the Shipment on Bob Go

  • Create and fulfil your order using your preferred courier

  • Ensure the following is clearly included in the delivery special instructions:

    • PO number

    • Due date

    • Vendor number

3. Book Using ECO Service

  • All Takealot shipments must be booked on ECO

  • Bookings on OVN or LSE will not apply or help expedite the delivery/collection.

4. Pre-alert all couriers except The Courier Guy

  • Email Bob Go support and the courier before 14:45

  • This ensures the shipment is prioritised and processed correctly

5. Prepare Documentation

Include:

  • Shipping note (inside and outside the parcel)

  • PO confirmation

  • Correct labeling on the parcel

    • Always include the PO number in special instructions

2. RAM Couriers

  • Strong alternative

  • Handles Takealot shipments well

Requirements:

  • Existing clients: Booking confirmation + PO

  • New clients: Full documentation (label, notes, PO, booking)

3. Skynet

  • Can handle Takealot shipments (not specialised)

  • Requires full documentation

  • Assigns a dedicated driver

4. Internet Express (IE) – Last Option

  • Cost-effective but manual process

  • Does not auto-rebook

    • You must notify IE and Bob Go after booking

    • Delivery due date/time should not be earlier than 10:30 am.

Couriers NOT Supported for Takealot

Warning
Do not use:

  • Fastway

  • MTE Xpress

  • City Logistics

  • Citi Sprint / Wumdrop / Drop24

These couriers do not support Takealot systems and will result in delays, failed deliveries and shipments being returned and charged.

Understanding Takealot Timelines

Collection Dates

Example: “17 NOV” indicates the earliest collection date. No collection will occur before this date.

Delivery Slots

Delivery dates and times are fixed and cannot be changed or brought forward. The couriers have no intervention with regards to the booking date; they submit the PO for booking, and then Takealot generates a booking date back to them.

Tracking & PODs

Will I see “Out for Delivery”?

Not always. Takealot shipments do not follow standard tracking events.

When will POD be available?

PODs take 24–48 hours to reflect due to internal Takealot processing.

Once a POD is received, Takealot has processed the delivery and have accepted or rejected the parcels accordingly. The courier has no intervention, and any discrepancies need to be communicated with Takealot in line with the POD.

Handling Rejected POs (Advanced Process)

When can I reuse a waybill?

Only if:

  • The PO was rejected

  • The parcel is still with the courier

  • No return has been booked yet

Steps to Fix a Rejected PO

  1. Create a new PO in the Takealot Portal

  2. Allocate it to the existing waybill

  3. Prepare updated documents:

    • Shipping note

    • PO confirmation

    • Supporting documents

  4. Send documents to the courier and Bob Go

No new waybill is required.

Why Shipments Get Rejected

Common Reasons

  • Damaged or worn packaging

  • Incorrect or repackaged boxes

  • Product damage (leaks, breakage)

  • Missing PO or documentation

Returns vs Rejections

Rejections

  • Parcel is refused at the receiving

  • Must be resolved within 24 hours

  • May require a new PO or updated documentation

Returns

Occurs when:

  • PO is missing for more than 48 hours

  • Documentation is incomplete

  • Incorrect shipment details

No POD Scenarios

If the PO number is missing from the waybill:

  • Takealot may accept the parcel

  • But no POD will be issued

  • POD cannot be requested afterwards

Important Booking Tips

Use Merchant Contact Details

Always use the merchant’s contact details for the delivery address. This ensures the courier can reach the correct person if needed.

Key Takeaways

  • Always book on ECO

  • Include the PO number everywhere (label, documents, instructions)

  • Use TCG wherever possible

  • Ensure parcels arrive at the depot before the cutoff times

  • Follow packaging rules strictly to avoid rejection

  • Act within 24 hours on any communication sent regarding problems with the shipment
